How I work

Walk & talk therapy in the Greenfield area

Therapy outdoors, side by side, on a real trail.

Walk and talk therapy

Walk and talk therapy combines the benefits of traditional counseling with the calming and regulating effects of movement and nature. Research shows that walking can support brain function, reduce stress hormones, and help regulate the nervous system, making it easier for many people to process thoughts and emotions.

Being outdoors and moving the body can also increase feelings of grounding, connection, and emotional openness.

Note

Only available in the Greenfield area

Walk and talk sessions happen outdoors, so they are offered locally rather than statewide. Everything else I offer is available online anywhere in Wisconsin.

Where we walk

County Grounds Park in Wauwatosa, and Greenfield Park in West Allis. We settle on a meeting spot when we schedule.

What about confidentiality?

We talk about this before we ever step outside. We agree in advance on what happens if we pass someone one of us knows. Usually that means I follow your lead and don’t acknowledge you unless you acknowledge me first.

Being outdoors does mean confidentiality cannot be guaranteed the way it is in a private room. You should know that going in.

The practical questions

If the weather is bad, we move the session to video or reschedule. Your call.

What to bring: yourself, and shoes you can walk in. I bring water, sunscreen, bug spray, and a first aid kit.

If walking isn’t right for you because of mobility, pain, or energy, online sessions are the better fit, and everything I offer works there.
